Dad we miss you...
This site is dedicated to George John Leslie Powell born 13th July 1913 and died 23rd December 2006. We miss you Dad, you will always be in our hearts and our memories.

George is survived by his sons Keith, Chris and Adam, daughters Susan and Marion, 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and his younger brother Bert.

He enjoyed extensive travel during military service in Egypt, Burma, The North West Frontier and the jungles of Malaya, where he obtained an MBE.

Mr G J L Powell

MR George John Leslie Powell, of Harriet Close, Sutton Bridge, died at his home, aged 93. Mr Powell was born in Edmonton, London, on July 13, 1914. He enjoyed travel during military service in Egypt, Burma and Malaya, where he obtained an MBE.

In later life he had an extensive career with ICL and worked in many Eastern Bloc countries. After retiring at the age of 79 he kept fit with long walks for charity well into his late 80s. He enjoyed many trips abroad and loved being with his family.

Mr Powell is survived by his sons Keith, Chris and Adam, daughters Susan and Marion, 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and his younger brother Bert. A funeral service at St Matthews Church, Sutton Bridge, was conducted by the Rev Alan Barker. Family mourners were Susan and Marion, Keith, Chris and Adam.
